That's Not So

By Sandra Snider

The pearl gates of heaven signify the great suffering enduring by the Lord Jesus Christ

The diamond, mined deep within the earth, is one of the hardest substances known to man. The pearl, on the other hand, is one of the softest gems that’s formed through the suffering of an organic living organism. A pearl begins to form when an irritant is introduced into the life of an oyster. The oyster must suffer in order to produce something exquisite, precious and highly valued. Pearls are rare and thousands of oysters have to be searched to find one pearl. Obviously, the larger the pearl the greater its value.

Revelation 21 speaks of the gates of heaven as being made of pearl. Verse 21 says, And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. Heavens gates stand throughout eternity as immense visual statements of the enormous suffering endured by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

Oh, how the Lord loves the pearl gates of Zion ! (Psalm 87:2)The names of the 12 tribes of Israel are written on these gates as well (verse 12); the redeemed will enter heaven through the same covenant established by Jehovah God with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And Revelation 21:27 states that those whose names are written in the sacrificial Lambs Book of Life will inherit this holy city because entrance through the pearl gates and citizenship in heaven is secured by the suffering and cross of Christ alone.

This is truth the world does not want to hear. The world says that there are lots of ways to heaven. But the lustrous and flawless pearl gates, by their indomitable presence, silence all worldly philosophies and arguments with this firm proclamation that is forever settled in the heavens: That’s not so! Who’d be found worthy in the heavens or the earth? To pay the debt of sin for everyone? Who could win the victory over death, hell and the grave? The Lion of the tribe of Judah . Jesus Christ the Son. He alone is worthy to worship and adore. The Lamb of God victorious. Our risen Lord. He purchased our redemption. Our righteousness is He. Exalt the name of Jesus. He is worthy.
