The Church is the Hope of the World

By Margaret Cook, M.Ed., Licensed Professional Counselor, Life Coach

Isaiah 60:1-3
1 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. (New King James)

The church today is running to see what lessons corporate America has to offer for leadership and managing an organization. Does anyone else in the church find this odd? Corporations are going bankrupt, reducing wages, increasing productivity expectations at the expense of our families and churches. Are we sure this is where we want our influences for church leadership?

Remember church that you belong to the Lord God almighty. What if everyone in the world looked to the church of the Living God to find a way to run any kind of organization? What if the church stood as a shining example for all to see of how to treat people? What if everyone in the church, even the least, was valued and appreciated? What if no one would consider missing church for work and employers readily understood when workers needed some flexibility not for “religious observance” but to make the world a better place through the mission of their ministry through a local church?

When Christ returns for His glorious bride, the church, she will be ready. She will be spotless and without blemish or stain of sin because of the regeneration of Christ. The Church will be the fullness of Christ we read about in Ephesians.

Let the leaders of all organizations see the glory of the Lord in our churches and may we rise to the calling we have to be the light of the world.

Prayer: Lord, humble us to be what you can create for your own glory. Teach us YOUR ways and not the ways of the world. Through your Son let us draw everyone to God for reconciliation and peace. Send your Spirit to the church and breathe in us the hope of renewal for leaders everywhere. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
